Every Day is Earth Day
Earth Day has always been one of our favorite holidays. It was founded in 1970 which was a very special year for us. That year, Dean Evenson and I got our first portable video camera, Dean stopped shaving and – we got married!! On that very first Earth Day we joined with so many others gathering in Manhattan’s Union Square to honor the Earth and recognize the perils our planet was facing. With all there is to celebrate, we realize how much more there is to do to manifest the mission that very first Earth Day set us on.
In a way, every music album, video, and book we have created since then has been in support of honoring the planet and all she provides. Since first adding field recordings to our albums in 1979 and making videos of the beautiful nature around us, we try to help people focus on the importance of protecting nature. Dean and I were inspired early on by Native American wisdom keepers who taught us to see the planet as a living being providing life for all creatures, plants, and trees. They taught us the concept of Mother Earth and of seeing nature as a loving mother providing for us, her children. As the source of all that is physical, we choose to act in ways that honor and protect nature in all her glory. We respect and honor the natural order of all life. And we thank YOU for considering the Earth in all that you do.
