Sound Yoga: music for the dedicated yoga practice
On Sound Yoga, internationally acclaimed sound healing pioneer, Dean Evenson, collaborates with outstanding members of the Soundings Ensemble to create music that supports the many aspects of yoga. He draws from his own decades long yoga practice to create music for the ultimate yoga session. Almost 70 minutes of exquisite music chosen in cooperation with leading yoga instructors features new music and selections from best-selling albums arranged in a flowing sequence to support one’s practice. Soaring flutes, exotic Chinese zither, Tibetan bowls and trance guitar are graced by meditative chanting to establish the perfect zone for yoga.
Liner notes include ‘Yoga: A Family Affair’ which traces the beginnings of Dean and Dudley’s yoga practice in upstate New York in the early 1970s and evolving through experiences with various teachers and gurus along their travels in India and Tibet. They share how their children and granddaughter have all followed in the yogic tradition, each in their own way. Yoga offers an opportunity to enhance one’s union with the divine, with the self, with the earth, with a partner. It is an ancient tradition that has found broad acceptance in modern times, doing much to help slow down the pace of our busy lives and yield a variety of health benefits. Whether one is a seasoned teacher, a new student or a longtime practitioner, Sound Yoga will bring balance and harmony to one’s life and daily routine.
