Worst Day Ever or Best Day Ever? Your Choice

Worst Day EverWorst Day Ever or Best Day Ever? It’s all a matter of perspective. Read this to the end and then read it from bottom to top and see what an optimistic message it contains.

This poem was written by a Brooklyn high school student and submitted to Poetry Nation.  It somehow ended up tacked to a wall in a London pub. A local man named Ronnie Joice took a picture of it and posted it on Twitter.  Now it’s taking the world by storm illustrating the amazing power of social media.  It especially calls attention the importance of our perspective and how we look at things.

“Worst Day Ever?” By Chanie Gorkin

Today was the absolute worst day ever
And don’t try to convince me that
There’s something good in every day
Because, when you take a closer look,
This world is a pretty evil place.
Even if
Some goodness does shine through once in a while
Satisfaction and happiness don’t last.
And it’s not true that
It’s all in the mind and heart
Because
True happiness can be obtained
Only if one’s surroundings are good
It’s not true that good exists
I’m sure you can agree that
The reality
Creates
My attitude
It’s all beyond my control
And you’ll never in a million years hear me say that
Today was a good day

Pondering Our Blessings

Pondering the many blessings we have is a focusing, choice-making process that allows us to recognize and appreciate the simple things around us that we take for granted.  For starters, we are a consciousness gifted with a functioning body that experiences the stimuli of life and interconnects us with other spiritual entities encased in similar protoplasmic form.  The life sentence we receive is a gift from the source energy of creation and as such is plugged into the constantly recycling energy fields flowing around us. We did not create ourselves, however once we recognize our own existences, we are responsible for what we use our heart/mind energy/our thoughts to focus on.  And we all know that what one focuses on expands.  Think about it.  What we fill our heads with is what naturally envelopes us.  So let’s keep our thoughts pure and saturated with a heart connection of unconditional love.  The whole world will reflect that love back to us in an expanded multiplicity of forms, bonds, opportunities, and connections.  Everyday brings a new sunrise.  ~ Dean Evenson
