Dean Evenson Dudley Evenson new year

Setting New Year Intention

Consider each day the beginning of a new year! What is your intention for how you want your new year to be? How do you want to feel about your life, your goals, and achievements? In your daily meditation, I encourage you to set your intention for the day and at the same time you will be setting your intention for your new year – whether it’s from January to January or June to June. Typically, when New Year’s Day occurs, people make all sorts of resolutions for the coming year. They may keep some of them for a few weeks but then eventually they fall back into their same old patterns. What if you could stay current with your resolutions by renewing them every day? What if you could actually meditate every day instead of just occasionally?

Courage to Step into the Unknown

We all know about the power of affirmations and visualizations but there are a few other aspects to the process of manifesting our dreams to reflect on. One key element is having the courage to take that first step. Do you let fear hold you back from doing the things you want to do? Where is that fear coming from? Often, we are responding to voices in our head that tell us we can’t do it, we’re not good enough, or some other type of limiting belief. When we look deeply into the source of our inner voices, we often discover that those ideas came from someone else who may not have had our best interests in mind. Watch your language. It is helpful to acknowledge the quality of our inner conversation and change it to meet our vision of how we actually want to move forward in our life.

Write it Down Make a List

Journaling can be a big help in defining how we want our lives to proceed. When you write down your goals, you are creating clarity and taking an important step in identifying your vision and dreams for your life. Talking things over with your partner or a friend and making lists can also be helpful. Dean Evenson and I have tons of journals full of our dreams and projects. Some of them we have accomplished and some are still waiting to be birthed. We keep chipping away at our dreams and when we stay focused on them, they actually happen.

Be Patient with the Process

One of the things I learned years ago when my dreams seemed to be taking too long to come into realization was that the timing wasn’t always up to me. Often, there would be other factors at work and I needed to learn to be patient and keep persevering. Dean and I used to sometimes consult the I Ching (Chinese book of changes) in order to gain confirmation on the next steps on our path. So many times that familiar phrase would show up – ‘Perseverance furthers.’ Keep going. Don’t give up. And sure enough, eventually, what we kept our focus on did ultimately become our reality. The universe has its own timeline and we need to be patient and stay the course by taking one step at a time.

I hope you have the best year ever and may all your dreams come true. They surely will if you stay focused on them and keep taking the necessary actions to make them happen. Be fearless in pursuing your highest vision for your life, each and every day and be patient with yourself. Your perfect life is waiting for you. It’s just a matter of time.

3 KEYS OF EFFECTIVE POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS

How do we overcome the tendency toward worry and negative thinking? How can we manifest our dreams and harness the power of positive affirmations to improve our lives? The new year is a perfect time to begin to focus on the life we want by using positive affirmations to guide us.

An affirmation is a positive statement asserting that the goal to be achieved is already happening. It is a declaration to manifest a desired outcome. This dream may seem far from the truth at the moment, but amazingly enough, with repetition and focused intention, it can become reality. Since the subconscious mind processes affirmations and suggestions as reality, it is important be aware of one’s thoughts and constantly edit out unwanted negative suggestions.

The fact is, we are constantly affirming in our mind what we believe. When we look honestly at the content of our thoughts, we may be shocked to discover what we have been telling ourselves. We can usually tell the quality of our subconscious mind by looking at the quality of our life. If we are not pleased with our life in every way, we must look at the content of our mind to discover how we have been programming our existence to meet our belief structure.

When we take hold of our thoughts through the repetition of positive affirmations, we can move in the direction of manifesting our highest ideals and vision for our lives. The word ‘mantra’ in Sanskrit means ‘mind protection’ for it is through the use of a repeated phrase, prayer or affirmation that we can overcome the rampant thoughts and tape loops that tend to control us. By repeating a phrase over and over again, it becomes embedded in our subconscious mind and then the creative forces of the universe rally support to make it happen.

Affirmations only work when spoken in the present tense. The subconscious mind takes things very literally so if you say ‘I will be rich’ you will never experience prosperity in the present moment as it will always be just around the corner, in the elusive future.

Another aspect that increases the effectiveness of affirmations is repetition. In the negative aspect of this principle, we experience inner ‘tape loops’ or ‘monkey mind’ that constantly replay a phrase or thought that is not in our best interests. Why not turn those negative tape loops into positive affirmations so we can truly create a life we love? Continue reading 3 KEYS OF EFFECTIVE POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS

12 Steps Living Your Dreams

TWELVE STEPS TO LIVING YOUR DREAMS

Here are some simple ideas to help you live your dreams.

One – Identify your purpose and mission in life.
Why were you born?  What are your special gifts, passions and skills?  Meditate on it. Clear your mind and environment of clutter. Create clarity in your life and be open to understanding what you want to be and do in this life.

Two –  Only you can create your own reality.
Do your ‘own’ thing, not your parent’s idea of what that might be. Vision it, sing it, say it. Create an affirmation vision mantra.  Spend time in nature learning from natural systems.  Refresh yourself constantly.  Know what you want and go for your goals.

Three – Go with the Flow.  Don’t resist it.
Resist Not Evil. Tai Chi it. “The Great Way (The Tao) is not difficult for those who have no preferences…  If you wish to see the truth, then hold no opinions for or against anything.”

Four – Be open and accept all as support.
Discern but don’t judge.  The Universe is a sea of infinite possibilities. Accept guidance from the Universe.   You never know where help will come from.

Five – Do what you love to do.
Enjoy your life.  What makes you happy and feel good?  Take time to cultivate your daily life so it includes doing what harmonizes with your spirit.  Design your life so it works for you.

Six – What you focus on expands.
Focus on the positive, not the negative.  What you have, not what you lack.  What you desire, not your problems.  The Law of Attraction.  Power of Intention.  Turn off your television and pray!

Seven – Find a Partner or Partners.  Dream together.
Get support.  Find people who share your values, ideals, visions and dreams.  “Where two or more are gathered, there also shall I be.” (Jesus) Group action.  Hire a helper or helpers.

Eight – Map it.  Design it.  Plan it.
Draw it, sketch it, write about it, model it.  Research.  Who is out there doing something similar?  Make lists.  Write a business plan. Be always alert for new ideas and ways of manifesting.

Nine – Take action.  Do it!
Pick up the phone, write a letter.  Volunteer your services.  Teach or take a workshop.  Set up a business.  Let people know about your dream, vision or project.

Ten – Constantly re-evaluate and modify your dream.
Update, upgrade.  No dream ever stays the same.  OK to change, improve and rework it.  Learn from your mistakes. Your original dream may have been incomplete. Add to it, change it.

Eleven – Accept success!  Don’t hold back.
Feel that you deserve to be all you can be.  Go for it.  Share it.  Tithe a portion of your income.  Share your blessings and they will grow.  Enjoy the process.

Twelve – Honor and gratitude for all that is.
Praise and thanks for life and whatever it delivers. Appreciate even that which you feel you don’t want.  Learn from everything, even mistakes, tragedies and pain.  Be grateful and then move on.
