A desert canyon swells with life as the Earth rolls into a new day. Sunrise awakens the birds at dawn and nature’s glorious symphony inspires this peaceful music of flute, harp and cello reflecting the serene moment.
Desert Dawn Song was the very first album recorded in 1979 on the Soundings of the Planet label. It was also one of the first musical recordings to include the sounds of nature combined with peaceful music and it helped launch a whole new genre of music for relaxation, meditation and healing.

Dudley’s magical vocals and harp merge with the dawn bird calls. Dean, a classically trained flutist and Jonathan kramer, a classically trained cellist composed their music as it was being played, blending classical structures with jazz improvisations and in the process created a completely new form of music.
Jonathan went on to perform with symphony orchestras and to teach music History and Ethnomusicology at North Carolina State and Duke Universities and to co-author a World Music textbook called What in the World Is Music? Dean and Dudley followed their path as sound healers and nurtured their successful record label Soundings of the Planet creating over 80 music albums and videos in the first 35 years.
The Evensons wanted to share the wisdom they were learning from Native Americans about the Earth as a living being and including the natural sounds with the music was a way they could honor the Earth. Their vision was for the music to carry the message of nature to people in cities who made decisions affecting the fate of the planet. This early album launched a whole new genre of music now known as New Age, Healing, Relaxation, or Nature Music. Massage therapists were the first to discover that this music could enhance their healing pracice. In the early days, Dean and Dudley sold their tapes at swap meets and very soon received feedback about the healing effects of their music. Then letters poured in and they realized that the nature-based music they were creating was having a healing effect on people. THE REST IS HISTORY!
Includes Earth Resonance Frequency (ERF) for deeper relaxation.
